The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Designer will play a crucial role in the Technology Infrastructure department, focusing on designing and onboarding new solutions across On-Prem, AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud platforms. This role involves identifying opportunities for migrating on-premise solutions to the cloud and collaborating closely with application teams, domain architects, Dev Ops engineers, and other key stakeholders. The Senior Infrastructure Designer will ensure seamless integration and alignment with Group IT while interfacing directly with business units across Optus. The position is integral to driving innovation and optimizing infrastructure strategies. Your day in the life as a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Designer Design and develop infrastructure solutions for both on-premise and cloud-based projects, ensuring alignment with strategic technology objectives. Create and implement design and hardening patterns for Landing Zones and cloud services, enhancing security and efficiency. Enable integrations with strategic platforms such as Elastic, Dynatrace, and Sail Point to support comprehensive infrastructure management. Develop and contribute to on-premise and cloud roadmaps and policies, supporting effective platform management strategies. Prepare and present solution overviews to technical forums and seek management endorsement for proposed technical solutions. Provide valuable input into project artifacts such as schedules, risk registers, and test planning to ensure high-quality solution delivery. Oversee the integration of various subsystems into a cohesive, scalable, and resilient solution, utilizing both in-house developments and commercial off-the-shelf products. Review and assess supplier work to ensure end-to-end delivery of software solutions that span multiple network service provisioning and assurance systems. Manage and negotiate third-party licenses and vendor agreements to optimize cost and compliance. Complete complex RFP and RFI documentation, including scope definitions and assessment criteria, and manage vendor presentations and the overall selection process. Experience Required Degree in Computer Science or a related field. AWS Solution Architect certification or similar, showcasing expertise in cloud architecture. Extensive experience in designing solutions for both on-premise and cloud environments. Broad and comprehensive experience as an Infrastructure Solution Designer, with a strong history in creating complex systems. Extensive industry knowledge in IT or Telecommunications, with recognized thought leadership. Proven ability to establish and influence relationships with senior executives. Strong leadership skills, with experience in building, leading, and motivating virtual Agile teams. Proficiency in designing highly available, cost-effective, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems. Experience in financial modeling and analysis for large-scale IT infrastructure investments, including total cost of ownership, scenario analysis, and functionality trade-offs. Knowledge of technology infrastructure, including network, compute, storage, and virtualization, with desirable experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud platforms.
