The Role The Senior Closure Advisor will be supporting the studies team in mine Closure, Rehabilitation and Contaminated Sites team-based team in Perth. You will play an integral role providing technical advice and support to the business in closure planning, management and minimisation of risks and impacts on the physical environment as they relate to closure.
This role involves having strong stakeholder engagement with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, to ensure the development of baseline studies and site closure plans to meet project and regulatory requirements.
For this position you will report directly to Principal Mine Closure Studies and be based at our HQ office on Osborne Park, and on occasions oversee project up onsite as the business requires.
Key deliverables: Assist mine closure team in the development of closure designs and studies.Undertake project planning and coordination for research and development projects.Work with site personnel and contractors to ensure the development of baseline studies and site closure plans to meet project and regulatory requirements.Collate and issue mine closure plans as required.Coordinate development of completion criteria in line with closure outcomesAssist in the development of business closure standards and procedures.Support the functional team by providing information and guidance on Closure aspects at an operational siteUpdate and maintain GIS datasets for input into closure liability estimates (ARO and LOM)Assist with sampling and analysis work of mineral waste, soil and contaminated sites as required to address knowledge gaps in landform design.Integrates with site teams to embed closure plan during operations to minimise future liabilities.Project Manage required research for closure on a range of studies and scientific research projects, including field trials that address knowledge gaps in Closure PlansWhat you'll bring to the team Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining, Civil or Environmental) Surveying, Environmental Science, Geoscience, or similarMinimum 3-5+ years of experience in mining; operations or consultancyMine closure / environmental restoration experience highly desirableWorking knowledge of Environmental Legislation relevant to the Mining Industry.Demonstrated technical writing skills (Drafting mine closure plans, scope of work etc.).Strong experience across broad range of technical disciplines including mine planning, hydrogeology, geochemistry, landform design and evolution (highly desirable)Project management and/or contractor management experienceArc GIS and Deswik / Surpac skills (highly desirable)Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite – particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.And then there's the extra benefits We look after our people because they're the ones looking after our business.That means a range of additional benefits for choosing MinRes including:
