About the Business Unit The Department of Justice and Community Safety is responsible for promoting community safety through the effective management and provision of rehabilitation and reparation opportunities to prisoners and offenders under custodial and community-based supervision.
The Offender Services and Reintegration division of Corrections Victoria (CV) is responsible for providing best practice interventions which aim to reduce the risk of reoffending including case management, education and employment, prison industries, and rehabilitation and reintegration supports.
The division contributes to a safer community by supporting a safe and humane corrections system that provides opportunities for rehabilitation, supports reintegration, and works toward Aboriginal self-determination.
The Prison Disability Support Initiative (PDSI) is a multidisciplinary team of clinical and disability support staff.
PDSI works across all prisons in Victoria providing a range of services including case co-ordination, advocacy, clinical consultations, training, assessment, treatment, behaviour support, and other interventions for service users with disability associated with underlying cognitive impairment.
About the Role The Senior Clinician (Disability Educator and Advisor) is a leadership role within the clinical team of the PDSI service.
This position will support the day-to-day operations of the Prison Disability Support Initiative by developing and delivering training to custodial staff and other key stakeholders to enhance their capability to respond to the needs of people with cognitive impairment and complex clinical presentations.
As the Senior Clinician (Disability Educator and Advisor), some of your duties will include:
Leading the delivery of training to custodial staff and key stakeholders to enhance custodial capability to respond to the needs of people with cognitive impairment and complex clinical presentations.Enhancing decision-making about all aspects of supporting those people in prison, including decisions relating to placement, case management, rehabilitation options, and transition and reintegration needs.Maintaining a small caseload of complex service users, managing the triage portfolio, and providing case consultations to the broader PDSI team.About you To be successful in this role, you will have:
Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery, and assessment of vocation-based training.Demonstrated experience working with and implementing supports for people with cognitive impairments or complex clinical needs, including case co-ordination and advocacy.A demonstrated high level of experience in and an understanding of disability justice support pathways and community-based support services (including the National Disability Insurance Agency, the Department of Families, Fairness, and Housing, and other relevant agencies) and the broader criminal justice and prison system.An understanding of the challenges involved in working within a forensic environment and commitment to the application of the Risk Needs Responsivity model.Qualifications A relevant tertiary qualification or experience in the field of allied health is required for this role.A certification and/or experience in training and education would be highly regarded.Experience working with forensic and/or correctional environments would be highly regarded.A current Victorian driver's licence is required for this role.How to Apply Please click the Apply button on this advertisement.
