In keeping with our future ready commitment, the Sustainability and Climate Change team is currently supporting a growing number and variety of clients to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions footprint and build their resilience to the effects of a changing climate. This is an opportunity for an outstanding individual to play a key role in further growing and strengthening this critical service offering. This is a full-time permanent role however we are open to part-time applicants. WSP offers a hybrid working from home/ office work model. The Sustainability team is a national team and we are interested in hearing from applicants in any major Australian city. What you'll do: This role requires a combination of technical expertise in climate science and adaptation strategies, as well as strong project management and communication skills.
Technical
Conduct research and analysis on climate change impacts, adaptation options, and best practices, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for clients. You will work within our team of climate change specialists to deliver and lead bespoke projects to develop and implement climate adaptation strategies to help our clients.Conduct climate risk assessments and vulnerability assessments for clients across various sectors and develop risk management strategies to mitigate impacts.Collaborate with other WSP business units to deliver climate change and resilience service/advice to major projects. This will include teams that have data analytics, digital, ecology and environment, social strategy, communication and engagement, and change management expertise.Provide advisory services on the resilient development of buildings, infrastructure, precincts, and communities.Be our focal point for climate change risk and resilience services nationally.Project Management
Lead and manage climate adaptation projects from inception to completion, including scoping, budgeting, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination.Business Development
Draw on your existing networks to drive the growth of our climate change and resilience offering.Contribute to the development of the business unit against strategic goals.Capacity Building
Provide training, capacity building support, workshop facilitation to clients as required.Contribute to the professional growth of our growing team of climate change and resilience professionals.Contribute to team knowledge sharing and publications, presentations, conferences.What we'll love about you: Degree qualified. Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental science, climate study, sustainability, or a related field.Be highly motivated and excited to solve client problems.Have a strong technical understanding of climate change risk, adaptation strategies, and resilience planning.A good knowledge of climate change mitigation solutions and understanding of how these might apply into different types of applications including in existing communities and organisations and as part of new/ expansion infrastructure.Knowledge of industry standards including ISO14090, AS5334, ISSB, TCFD and other sustainability framework is desirable.A strategic thinker who can balance technical rigour with a view of the bigger picture.Have existing relationships with government and corporate clients.Experience in project management and stakeholder coordination.Be confident in business development and client consultation.Have outstanding written and oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Be passionate about working within a team and supporting the growth of those around you.About us: WSP is one of the world's leading engineering professional services consulting firms.
