As Senior Claims Counsel, you will lead the Property & Casualty Claims function for the Australian branch of this leading Reinsurance provider.
Reporting to the CFO, you will manage high-value and complex claims, overseeing litigation, and driving continuous improvement in claims processes.
This role requires a deep understanding of the insurance and reinsurance landscape, and the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at a senior level.
You will play a key role in shaping the company's claims strategy and ensuring its reputation for excellence in claims management.

Key Responsibilities:Oversee and manage the end-to-end claims process, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and internal standards.Provide expert technical advice and assessment on large or complex claims, working closely with stakeholders including legal counsel, underwriters, and cedants.Lead the management of litigation matters, engaging with legal counsel as needed to mitigate risk and protect the company's interests.Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements in both Australia and New Zealand, while staying informed of legal and regulatory developments that impact claims management.Present claims insights and updates at internal meetings, contributing to broader business objectives.Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and external service providers, enhancing the company's market presence and reputation. Required Skills & Experience:Extensive experience in Property and/or Casualty Claims, in General Insurance or Reinsurance, with strong knowledge of contract wordings and claims processes.Legal qualifications or a background in Law would be an advantage.Expertise in managing complex claims and litigation, with a clear understanding of insurance law and regulations.Proven ability to identify and manage risks, with experience in recommending and implementing effective strategies.Strong communication, influencing, and 'client' engagement skills.Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.A track record of working autonomously, as well as collaborating effectively within a team.Experience in process improvement and identifying operational inefficiencies.
