Senior Civil Lawyer (Consumer Action)

Salary Offering $94,458 - $98,625.80 Additional Benefits: 17.5% Leave Loading 5 extra days leave on top of 20 days annual leave Only required to work 35 hours per week, any extra hours worked will be calculated as your Time In Lieu (TOIL) – which you may use as additional leave hours Access to company vehicles for any work-related trips Salary packaging is available via Maxxia Office Locations:273 High Street, Preston, 3072 This role is full-time fixed term for 4 years OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE This position is tied to an integrated Practice Project which VALS is undertaking in partnership with Consumer Action Law Action (Consumer Action). The project is funded through the Federation of Community Legal Centres integrated Services Fund.
The successful candidate may also be required to provide casework, advice, referrals, and representation across the other VALS Civil and Human Rights practice areas from time to time as their capacity allows. These practice areas include tenancy, infringements, Working With Children Check suspension and cancellation, employment, discrimination, Personal Safety Intervention Orders and coronial matters.
Key Section Criteria Strong negotiation skills & professional approach to dispute resolution Previous experience knowledge/experience in Consumer Lawyer would be desirable Experience in providing legal advice, representation and conducting litigation in various jurisdictions including tribunals & courts Experience working with with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander clients in a similar role Strong interpersonal & communication skills Respect for others feelings, ideas & abilities to work effectively & professionally MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: On offer of this position, you must provide:
