Our Toronto Office is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing Civil & Water team. The successful candidate will also act as a Design Lead on projects.

Lead, manage, and review the design of key elements of large rail and civil infrastructure projects, including Low Impact Development, wet utilities, erosion and sediment control, site servicing, grading, and stormwater management. Manage the civil engineering aspect of small projects such as parks or site development designs for a variety of projects. Support the development of graduate engineers and interns in the team by reviewing and managing their technical work. Coordinate with multiple disciplines to bring a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to design on our projects. Take responsibility for the delivery of client deliverables. Assist project managers in the day-to-day running of projects such as Light Rail Transit (LRT) and water projects across Canada. Attend, contribute to, and lead internal and external project meetings. Engage and work with clients and municipal and utility authorities to obtain approvals for design work. Prepare and present technical material in innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences. Understand industry trends and best practices in the civil and infrastructure markets; and participate in local professional associations. Is this role right for you? A Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Civil Engineering, with at least 3 years of local experience. P. Eng. license in the Province of Ontario (preferred). A technical background in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, pumping stations, Low Impact Development, wet utility design, and water quality. Experience working with the City of Toronto, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Toronto Transit Commission, Metrolinx, and other municipal authorities in the area, along with experience gaining approval from these authorities (preferred). Experience with 3D modeling using design software such as Autodesk and Bentley. Proficiency in InfoWorks ICM (preferred). An appreciation of climate adaptation and resilience principles and practices. Enthusiasm for a career in the water sector, underpinned by knowledge and understanding of our sector and work. Understanding of wider engineering project requirements (e.g., geotechnics, utilities, risk management) and the ability to tailor civil engineering interventions to suit broader project aspirations. An organized approach and the ability to plan ahead to ensure deadlines are met. The aptitude to work on your own initiative and be proactive. Flexibility to meet the needs of the business and adapt to changes in project plans. A strong sense of appropriate ethical practice, with a professional, trustworthy, and approachable attitude. Presentation skills suitable for colleagues and clients at all levels. The ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage deadlines and exceptional organization skills required. Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $90,000 to $100,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
