Senior Child And Family Advocate/ CounsellorThis is an exciting opportunity to join the Multi-agency Investigation Support Team (MIST).
MIST is an innovative model of responding to child sexual abuse and other adverse childhood experiences and is a partnership between Parkerville's Specialist Therapeutic Response Team and WAPOL Child Abuse Squad.Parkerville's Specialist Therapeutic Response Team provides therapeutic and psychological interventions to children, young people, and their families alongside advocacy work to ensure children and young people have a voice and are empowered with choices throughout the criminal investigation within therapeutic/counselling interventions.
Working from a trauma-informed, child-and family-inclusive framework, we provide evidence-based interventions to help children and young people heal from this traumatic experience.This role requires a high level of skill and experience in working with children, young people, and their families.
If this sounds like you, you will be provided with ongoing professional development and professional supervision and be part of a passionate team of professionals committed to supporting those impacted by child sexual abuse.About the RoleWe are looking to fill two positions for this role, which are offered on a full time, permanent basis, at our Armadale Location.In order to be successful for this role, the applicant will have:Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or another relevant field.Demonstrated experience and knowledge of trauma-informed practice in relation to children, young people, and families.Demonstrated experience and knowledge of conducting intake assessments.Demonstrated ability to advocate amongst professional peers on behalf of children and young people.Experience in working with and supporting children, young people, and families in crisis and those who have experienced abuse and/or neglect.Key Responsibilities:Provide advocacy and support for children and families navigating the complexities of child sexual abuse cases.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive, trauma-informed care.Empower children and young people by facilitating their choices and promoting their voices throughout the investigative process.Deliver therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of each child and family.Contribute to the ongoing development of best practices within the MIST framework.Qualifications:Extensive experience working with children, young people, and families in a trauma-informed context.Strong understanding of child welfare policies and the dynamics of abuse.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to advocacy.Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.Why Join MIST?As a Senior Child and Family Advocate, you'll receive ongoing professional development and supervision within a passionate team dedicated to alleviating the impact of abuse on the lives of those affected by child sexual abuse.Parkerville Children and Youth Care are uniquely positioned to provide the successful applicant with the following benefits:SCHADS Schedule B Paypoint and Level – 5.1-5.3, $49.28-$51.51 per hourDiscounted Health Insurance PlansEAP Service with Wellness resourcesSalary Packaging of up to $15,900It is essential that all applicants meet the above criteria and are permitted to work and remain in Australia with no limitations.We hope to hear from you by 4:00pm, Monday, 6th of January 2025.
