Support young people & their families to re-engage with school & learning Fixed term to 31st December 2025 | part time 0.6 | based at Werribee Senior level position | intensive | targeted | complex The Program: The Navigator Program is an intensive, targeted education support service where Case Managers work in collaboration with schools, young people, families, and external stakeholders to find ways to achieve educational goals.
In 2023-24, 847 young people were supported to re-engage with their education through the Navigator program.
What our students say: "This program has made my future just that little bit brighter, and that's what I so desperately needed" About the role: You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, comprising a Team Leader, Intake and Assessment Workers, Senior Case Managers, and Specialist Workers.
You will primarily be working with children who have disconnected from school. Many of these young people have complex barriers to educational engagement & have not responded to school-based engagement interventions. Young people may experience barriers such as mental health, disability and neurodiversity as well as trauma.
Your role is to work with young people, their families & support networks to address these issues underlying disengagement & help them re-engage with their education & achieve their goals.
Applicants with experience working with CALD communities and young people at risk of Youth Justice involvement are encouraged to apply.
Make your mark: Extensive case management experience, drawing from a variety of appropriate frameworks and theoretical approaches. Bring your area of expertise to a diverse team, be that mental health, disability, education, youth justice, or family services. Assist disengaged learners to re-connect back into education and learning. Successfully build rapport with children and young people, who present with a range of complex challenges such as mental health, disability, neurodiversity, trauma. Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and liaison skills. Ability to work with government and non-government organisations, community groups, and clients' families/networks. Knowledge of school environments and educational policy. Make it work: Inspiring leadership supporting individual agency and autonomy. A salary at SCHADS level 6 which equates to around $106,637 plus super at full time. Flexible through the increments up to 6.3. 0.6 which is 3 days per week, 22.8 hours. The position is until end December 2025 at this stage but may be extended. Site based at our office in Werribee with outreach across the Western Melbourne region. Pool cars available for your use.
