The Queensland Police Service's Safety Strategy Division has embarked on one of its most significant organisational transformations. Central to these improvements is an uplift in the capacity and capability of our Safety Governance Team.
The Safety Governance team delivers specialist safety governance and compliance functions. The team also plays a key role in strategic planning for WHS high level projects and program development.
You will apply your well-developed skills to contribute to the continuous improvement of the WHS management system (WHSMS) as well as the delivery of capability training. In addition, you will be instrumental in the delivery of compliance and assurance programs to support improvements across QPS's WHS functions.
As a skilled practitioner, you would be able to effectively partner with a wide range of stakeholders and lead your team to innovate and lift both safety performance and capability within QPS.
Your key accountabilitiesThe core capability requirements for this role are:
Support the Principal Safety Governance Advisor to develop and implement governance frameworks and policies to facilitate the delivery of WHS functions.Identify the capability and training required to support the Safety Governance Team, other staff within Safety Strategy Division, and across QPS.Plan, coordinate and deliver both training and compliance/assurance programs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Safety Governance team.Research, develop and implement systems and initiatives, practices and policies relating to work health and safety to support the corporate health and safety management system framework.Prepare high-level advice, reports, submissions, briefing materials, and correspondence for senior management.Provide quality WHS advice to all levels of management, health and safety advisors, and QPS members, including guidance on WHSMS requirements including compliance and assurance audits.Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and liaise and negotiate with staff in the QPS health and safety consultative network and other internal and external stakeholders.Role RequirementsQualification: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be considered highly desirable.Qualification as a Lead Auditor for WHSMS would be considered highly desirable.Technical/Operational/Educational experience: Established skills and experience in work health and safety preferably in a large or highly regulated organisation, would support success in this role.Experience in the development and delivery of capability training as well as compliance and assurance programs would be highly regarded.Other: Occasional Intrastate travel may be required.May be required to occasionally participate in a 24-hour critical incident on-call roster.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
