This is a pool recruitment process (Ref 01056). This pool will run for a period of twelve (12) months and may be used to fill ongoing fixed term contracts, secondments, acting/relieving and permanent opportunities. There is currently one (1) permanent full time position available. THE OPPORTUNITY Join the world's largest single police jurisdiction and be part of policing a jurisdiction covering 2.5 million square kilometres.
As a part of the Applications Management team, you will ensure all day-to-day application support and maintenance for production applications.
Being a part of the Technology Portfolio, this position offers a number of personal and professional development opportunities, including training courses in ICT fundamentals such as ITIL and PRINCE2.
The position is based in the Perth CBD, conveniently close to public transport and with excellent end of trip facilities.

POSITION OBJECTIVE This position ensures all day-to-day application support and maintenance for production applications, residing on a diverse array of technology platforms. Ensures fault fixing and minor enhancements are managed and completed according to the Western Australia Police Force business requirements. Assists to ensure the provision of high-quality client-focused business systems which meet the operational, tactical and strategic requirements of WA Police Force users.
SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to become an Australian Citizen prior to appointment.

Applicants are asked to address the following nominated work related requirements in no more than two (2) pages:
Ability in maintaining and enhancing supported systems - Recognising opportunities to improve system services to achieve Agency objectives. Coordinating the support and maintenance of production applications in an enterprise environment. Testing skills - Planning, creating and running test cycles for existing systems including test plans, test matrix, test cases. Applicants are also required to submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.
The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant's ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

OTHER CONDITIONS In addition to the above mentioned vacancy, a POOL is being created to fill future vacancies that may arise within the metropolitan area. This POOL will remain active for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial appointment. Applicants who are assessed as 'suitable' at the completion of this process, will be placed in the POOL and may be considered for future permanent and temporary vacancies as they become available.
Once an applicant from the POOL accepts a permanent position via this selection process, that applicant will be removed from the POOL. Applicants who accept a temporary vacancy will remain in the POOL and will continue to be considered for permanent opportunities as they arise.
Where an applicant in the POOL declines an opportunity (either permanent or temporary), that applicant may forfeit their right to be considered before other suitable applicants who were identified to be less competitive.
Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for a position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
