About the role: This position supports the General Manager – Business Development to facilitate the interface between research initiatives and potential business & academic collaboration opportunities particularly with respect to guiding proof of concept, de-risking and enhancing investment attractiveness.
The candidate will be responsible for: Provide leadership in advancing the translational research agenda internally and externally and increase the profile and reputation of the Florey. Act as the Florey key contact and manage relationships with external companies and key stakeholders as agreed with the General Manager – Business Development. Lead special projects and initiatives as requested by the General Manager – Business Development from time to time. Be a leader in mentoring and supporting:Florey researchers in developing their IP and commercialisation ambitions. The E&I team in their professional development. Develop and deliver a customised education and training program for Florey staff and students to enhance the Florey's performance in creating, capturing, and translating new intellectual property. Support the collective vision and mission of the Florey through open and collaborative communication that promotes positive and respectful relationships:Fostering and supporting innovation within the E&I team and broader Institute. Excellence in practice driven by a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusivity. Effective modelling and promotion of Florey values including diversity and inclusion and high standards of ethics and research integrity. This position is a permanent, full-time and attracts a market competitive salary package.

Qualifications in science with a focus in the fields of neuroscience or biomedicine. Demonstrated experience negotiating and overseeing the delivery of research agreements and collaborations with national and international biomedical research and commercial networks. Demonstrated experience in IP strategy, portfolio management and commercialisation of IP portfolios. Successful track record of commercial outcomes through partnerships with companies, government and relevant industry groups. Proven record in attracting major funds and investments, public and private. Extensive relevant experience in the biomedical sector either within industry or university medical research institute. Proven experience in leading and sustaining strategic collaborations with key stakeholders. Change and project management experience. What we offer:
