The Digital Division enables the delivery of AEMO's obligations through technology and improves outcomes for both internal and external stakeholders.
Digital provides services to internal AEMO business units, employees, contractors, its subsidiaries such as AEMO Services, external government bodies and market participants.
The Business Analysis practice is part of the Strategy, Architecture & Emerging Technologies department within Digital.
This position can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane.
What you will be doing The Senior Business Analyst role will support AEMO's subsidiary AEMO Services (ASL) in delivery of strategic programs and projects, as well as BAU.
The Senior Business Analyst will lead and be responsible for requirements gathering, data and process mapping, and modelling.
The role is required to work with various stakeholders across the business.
Working within program and project teams, the Senior Business Analyst will contribute to ASL's strategic objectives by assisting Program and Project Managers and Business stakeholders on projects involving dedicated specialist teams across the organisation.
You will also be responsible for:
Conducting analysis of business needs, objectives, and requirements.
Providing input into Investment Briefs.
Reviewing requirements for consistency, completeness, and accuracy, and taking corrective action where required.Working with the business and digital to define and elucidate project requirements/user stories, acceptance criteria, and processes, to support project scope and timelines.Establishing relationships with stakeholders to ensure that their needs are clearly represented.Documenting functional and non-functional requirements with appropriate diagrams, models, and descriptions to ensure requirements are concise, understandable, and assessable, simplifying information whenever possible.Modeling business processes and identifying opportunities for process improvements.Representing the project in various project, stakeholder, and inter-department forums.Developing and maintaining project documentation, procedures, controls, and ensuring requirements can be traced throughout the project.Contributing to establishing and adapting best practices within the BA community.Identifying issues, risks, and benefits of existing and proposed solutions, outlining business impacts.Contributing to testing solutions and supporting the implementation process by explaining the new solutions.
Supporting business transition and helping to establish change.What you will bring to the role Tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline (Business, Information Technology, or Electrical Engineering).At least 5 years' experience as a Business Analyst.Detailed level of knowledge of the energy sector, including both industry and regulatory matters is highly desired.Knowledge of BABOK areas and techniques desired.Experience leading business analysis strategy and other Business Analysts in a team or the wider organisation desired.Sound understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid ways of working.Strong understanding of all aspects of the systems/software development life cycle in varied development approaches.Extensive experience gathering, writing, and analysing requirements and taking them through to conceptualisation.
Experience in authoring technical documentation and end-user documentation.
Proven ability to conceptualise, develop and articulate solutions and to specify functional/non-functional requirements that are well accepted by stakeholders within short timeframes.Excellent analytical skills, including a proven ability to quickly analyse and develop data models, identify patterns, business rules, and workflows.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to internal and external stakeholders of all levels.Sound interpersonal, consultation, and facilitation skills coupled with proven ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of diverse internal/external teams.Ability to work as directed while using initiative and gathering experience to take preventative steps when required to ensure that a program or project meets deliverable targets.
