Who are we looking for?We're looking for a Senior Botanist to join our Ecology Team as part of the broader inclusive Environmental Assessments and Approvals team.
Take the next step in your career and be rewarded for your experience and passion that you can bring to the role.Our Environmental Assessment and Approvals business has maintained strong growth in recent years and is currently one of the largest groups in WA, being a leader in impact assessment and approvals, terrestrial ecology, marine, air and noise assessments services.
Our diverse team contributes to a wide variety of projects, with a strategic focus on renewable energy, critical minerals, infrastructure, water and Defence at a regional, national and global scale.Our long established ecology team consists of 15 staff including botanists, ecologists, and zoologists with a range of experience from technical director to graduate level.
Our team works closely with regional staff based in GHD offices in Albany, Geraldton, Karratha and Bunbury.
The Ecology Team operates with the values of inclusiveness and professionalism and provides a supportive environment for you to apply your skills and experience in flora and vegetation assessment.
Working closely with the Ecology Team Lead you will have ownership of your survey field work commitments and be able to determine your focus, if a more technical role is what you are seeking GHD can support you in this to help feed your passion.

Become part of our global network of skilled engineers, scientists, auditors, planners and environmental specialists, all working together to leave this world better than we found it.Our pledge to youJoin GHD Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Undertaking and leading botanical surveys throughout the State including detailed, basic, and targeted flora and community surveys and subsequent flora identification.
Preparing technical reports including vegetation and flora assessments to support referrals and environmental assessments.
Travel throughout the state to undertake surveys, often in remote locations for extended survey periods, but always considering your work/life balance.
Conducting specific ecology surveys and assessments.
Maintain knowledge of ecology and botanical guidance and approvals.
Making technical decisions and providing solutions based on expertise.
What will you bring to the team?
Bachelor degree qualification in environmental science or ecology discipline.
5-7+ years' relevant experience consulting experience as a botanist, preferably within Western Australia.
Current drivers' licence (c class), manual preferred.
Proven experience in and a sound understanding of current environmental issues and legislation.
Proven experience in proposal development and project management and working as part of a team.
Proven experience in supervision of junior team members, with the ability to mentor, and taking a leading role in field surveys.
Ability to deliver critical project outcomes under pressure with enthusiasm and drive.
