Senior Biosecurity Officer - Investigations and Intelligence
Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania – Hobart TAS
The Senior Biosecurity Officer (Investigations and Intelligence) plans and leads complex and/or high-profile investigations into offenses under the Biosecurity Act 2019.
Gather evidence, prepare offence files, mentor other staff, and conduct interviews.
Conduct investigations at varying premises (this may include in emotionally challenging environments such as Abattoirs).
Work across a number of pieces of legislation.
Provide evidence in court proceedings.
Work with a range of stakeholders including the broader Biosecurity team, other agencies, and Tasmania Police.
Undertake enforcement related research to ensure that Biosecurity Tasmania continues to keep Tassie safe.
We have one permanent and one fixed-term 12-month position available.
Our ideal candidate has
Experience leading complex and high-profile investigative matters.
Understanding of the risks associated with investigations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience with intelligence collection, analysis, and management.
