About the role
As the Senior Biodiversity Planning Officer, you will be responsible for the assessment of Development Application referrals and other planning matters relating to Natural Areas.
Provide internal and external stakeholders with professional advice and specialist technical expertise relating to ecology and biodiversity matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the assessment of Pre-lodgement Application, Development Application, State Significant Development and Planning Proposal referrals on behalf of the Natural Areas team relating to ecology, biodiversity, natural areas, and impacts to bushland trees. Review and negotiation of complex ecological and arboricultural solutions with both highly motivated and resourced customers with limited understanding of the development process. Prepare assessment reports and development consent conditions within a complex statutory framework. Ensure all assessments undertaken are completed in accordance with the applicable law and legislation. Lead and manage strategic (LGA-wide) biodiversity conservation projects. Conduct research to support the development of environmental strategy and actions. About You
We are looking for someone with:
Tertiary qualifications such as, a Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental or Natural Resource Management or equivalent. BAM accredited Assessor (or eligible for accreditation) under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016. Class 'C' Driver's License Minimum 7 years professional working experience in natural areas management or related field. Demonstrated experience in the assessment and review of ecological matters, in the context of development applications and environmental planning proposals, including the preparation or review of Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports (BDARs) and Tests of Significance under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016. High level clear and concise written and verbal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to relate to all levels of staff and the community. Strong organisational and time management capabilities. Demonstrated capability in preparing high quality reports, correspondence and technical reviews. What's on offer
We are offering an attractive remuneration from $117,832 to $129,758 plus 11.5% superannuation.
