About the role This position is located in Brisbane (Pinkenba) with activities required at all Airbus sites in Australia.
The role also works closely with the Manager Safety & Quality - New Zealand to take a whole of company view to Aviation Safety Management.
As the Senior Aviation Safety Specialist, you will be responsible to enhance Aviation Safety throughout AAP, in direct coordination with Aviation Safety and Operational counterparts across Defence & Services, Civil Helicopters and Corporate business units.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Aviation Safety, the holder of this role is a Subject Matter Expert in the field of Aviation Safety and will advise the Accountable Manager(s) and Senior Manager Aviation Safety on safety management matters.
You will be responsible for performing Aviation Safety investigations and managing safety issues that are assigned by the Senior Manager Aviation Safety.
Some of your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Aviation Safety Risk Management including:
Facilitate, coordinate and drive best practice for safety risk management and hazard identification processes.
Ensure the company risk register is maintained.Monitoring, trending and reporting of aviation safety risks and controls, hazards and incidents for generative safety outcomes.Monitor and report the Top Safety Enhancer activities at a company levelAviation Safety Assurance including:
Support the Management of Change activities for the AAP Change Management process (e.g.
assess change significance, facilitate risk assessments and monitor action plans)Lead targeted continuous improvement of the integrated Safety Management System for Airbus Australia Pacific at a whole of company levelMonitoring, trending and reporting aviation safety metrics (Key Performance Indicators)Aviation Safety Promotion and Training including development and delivery of targeted and varied aviation safety training, promotion and communication strategies and campaigns.
Advise the Accountable Manager(s) and Senior Manager Aviation Safety on safety management mattersEnsure overall compliance with SMS regulations (e.g.
Civil & Defence) and interface with the Regulators for SMSPrepare, participate in and lead aviation safety reviews within Airbus (eg Executive Safety Committee, Safety Review Committees, iSMS Working Group, Safety Risk Reviews)About you To be successful in this role you will need to live the Airbus Values, work with passion and determination, able to work to tight deadlines in an environment of continuous improvement.
You will have a demonstrated ability to drive positive aviation safety culture and behaviours across Airbus through leadership and strong safety values.
You will be confident to share lessons learned from internal and external events and investigation outcomes with global Aviation Safety community.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a Subject Matter Expert in Aviation Safety.
The qualifications best suited to this role include:
Tertiary qualifications in an associated Aviation Profession (Aviation Management, Engineering or similar)Diploma or higher qualification in Aviation SafetyCertification in a recognised Investigation methodologyCertification in a recognised audit methodologyThe knowledge, skills and experience suited to this role:
Extensive experience in the aviation industry, and demonstrated related work experience in aviation safety, risk management, compliance or assuranceExperience in the implementation, maintenance and assurance of safety management policies, plans and standards, and experience in Aviation SMS data systemsKnowledge of applicable Defence & Civil Aviation legislation/regulations, standards and internal best practicesLeadership experience with a demonstrated ability to influence cross functionally and at all levels in a large, complex organisation.Ability to apply systems thinking across multiple risk management frameworksExperience leading cross functional risk assessments and facilitating workshops to identify, assess and manage aviation safety or operational risk.Diversity At Airbus, we recognise that we are strengthened by diversity.
