About the team The Business Grants Hub (BGH) is responsible for design and management of grant programs on behalf of 10 other Commonwealth departments, managing over $7b in government's investment in Australian businesses.
Grants play a critical role in: supporting growth in businesses and industries fostering research and innovation strengthening communities helping the environment providing emergency relief We provide an end-to-end grant delivery service using a national network.
In addition to grant program management, the division encompasses enabling functions that provide a comprehensive support model for grant delivery.
These broadly include management of grant assurance and compliance activities, workforce planning as well as delivery of continuous improvement projects.
It is a dynamic division of over 380 people, all our teams are geographically dispersed with staff located all around Australia!
About the section The Assurance and Compliance team withing the Business Grants Hub plays a vital role in supporting program teams, the Executives and Policy Partner agencies.
The team is responsible for assurance advisory services, compliance monitoring, program reviews and project management.
We support the management of risk by providing advice and assurance against legislative, policy and process requirements.

Key competencies experience conducting assurance activities and making pragmatic recommendations for compliance and continuous improvement experience in a grant management environment or a demonstrated ability to quickly gain this (e.g.
experience interpreting and applying legislation to complex situations) experience extracting, and analysing data to draw accurate conclusions, and reporting findings in a meaningful way ability to achieve outcomes in the face of ambiguity and change able to successfully build and maintain collaborative relationships with staff and stakeholders data reporting and analysis skills are highly regarded What you will do As a Senior Assurance and Compliance Officer in the Assurance and Compliance team you will work under broad direction of an Assistant Manager.
You will: undertake assurance on grant management activities through: maintaining a strong working knowledge of legislation and policies relevant to grants management.
extracting data and information from various systems and analysing the results to draw accurate conclusions reporting findings and making pragmatic recommendations to senior leaders through the development of assurance reports.
provide advice on the application of the PGPA Act 2013, the CGRPs 2024, departmental frameworks and policies, to grants management processes.
develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders support others within the section and more broadly across the Business Grants Hub to conduct assurance activities identify common or systemic assurance and compliance issues and support their remediation, including identifying and driving opportunities for continuous improvement supervise and train members of the team and build a positive, productive and inclusive culture.
Eligibility To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
