About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced back-end construction Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join one of the largest and busiest Construction, Infrastructure and Projects teams in the State.
With a genuine commitment to developing our lawyers in a large specialist team environment, you will have opportunities at both a local and national level to work closely with partners in the Construction, Infrastructure and Projects team as well as other practice groups.

You will assist clients in the context of varied and large-scale projects over a range of sectors including transport and social infrastructure, renewables, commercial, and industrial working for a mix of project owners (including government), major contractors and engineering companies.
You will work with clients to manage disputes during and after the delivery of projects, including in the context of adjudications and expert determinations, and act in high-value and complex litigation and arbitration.
In that context, you will be expected to prepare advices, draft legal submissions for adjudications and expert determinations and have day-to-day conduct of litigious matters, which will include instructing Counsel and technical experts as well as supervising the work of less experienced lawyers.

Your clients will include government, developers, multi-national engineering companies and some of the largest head contractors in the country.

About You

The successful candidate will have extensive back-end construction experience with advanced knowledge of the sector.
You will enjoy the dynamics of working in a collaborative team with a strong commitment to achieving client outcomes and a desire to continually develop your technical capability.

In addition to the above, you will have at least 7+ years PAE and the following skills/attributes:


Ability to analyse and solve complex legal issues Excellent technical and strategic skills and a keen eye for detail Ability to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines within a fluid work environment while meeting client expectations A desire and capacity to mentor, supervise and upskill less experienced lawyers in the team Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to adjust your communication style based on your audience and positively influence desired outcomes An active team member who is committed to supporting others to reach shared goals The necessary skills to use discretion and deal with confidential and sensitive information appropriately What's next?
