As a dynamic and fast-growing organisation, we are looking for for a full-time Family Lawyer to join our team.
Roles & Responsibilities You will play a pivotal role in:
• Case Management: Oversee the management and execution of client cases in family law, including drafting and reviewing critical legal documents such as correspondence, court submissions, Binding Financial Agreements (BFAs), and consent orders.
• Legal Research and Advice: Conduct comprehensive legal research to provide tailored strategic advice to clients.
Develop strong evidence and arguments for use in mediations and hearings, ensuring the best possible outcomes.
• Client and Stakeholder Communication: Maintain proactive and effective communication with clients, barristers, and other stakeholders.
Ensure clients are regularly updated on their cases and provide top-tier representation.
This includes regularly communicating with clients, barristers, and third parties.
• Advocacy: Participate in directing hearings, trials, and mediations.
Instruct counsel to ensure effective advocacy and represent clients in court proceedings as needed.
• Family Law Services: Provide comprehensive legal services in all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody, property division, and domestic violence cases.
Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients whenever possible.
• Mediation and Negotiation: Supervise and direct mediation sessions, offering effective legal advice and working towards amicable resolutions.
• Document Preparation: Draft and prepare necessary legal documents, including correspondence, court documents, Binding Financial Agreements (BFAs), and consent orders.
• Evidence Preparation: Prepare evidence including affidavits and witness statements to support client cases.
Who You Are • Holder of a current Victorian Practicing Certificate and an accredited legal qualification.
• 7+ years of experience in family law with a focus on complex financial and parenting matters.
• Impeccable attention to detail and highly organised, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to navigate sensitive situations empathetically and with a high level of emotional intelligence.
• Able to work autonomously or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, showing flexibility and adaptability.
• A proactive individual with strong negotiation skills, focused on finding effective solutions.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, capable of working independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent computer literacy to manage case documents and research efficiently.
