Purpose of Role QTC's Advisory Division is focused on supporting financial sustainability and operational excellence across Queensland's Government Departments, Local Governments and Government Owned Corporations. The Advisory Division supports and assists these Government entities to:
deliver their budgets improve their client service delivery identify and mitigate significant business risk, and implement and sustain projects while building internal capability. We are looking for values-driven Senior Associates and Associates to join our growing Sustainability Team, part of the broader Industry, Investment and Commercial Team. The Sustainability Team aspires to be a trusted advisor to Government, playing a crucial role in supporting Queensland's transition to a low carbon economy. The team primarily partners with Central Agencies, working closely with Queensland Treasury, on engagements requiring multi-agency collaboration with whole of state impacts. The support provided by the Team includes providing analysis, insights, and strategies in diagnosing and solving challenges or progressing opportunities.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities Contribute to the preparation and presentation of industry, financial and economic advice to inform Queensland's pathway to net zero and provide insight into the cost of abatement and the structural challenges emerging from the transition to a low carbon economy, including implications for industry, government and the economy. Undertake financial and/or data modelling and analysis to support and inform problem solving and decision making. Support the development of reporting to measure and track the status of Queensland's emissions reduction progress. Stay informed about trends in sustainability and support the identification of implications and opportunities for Queensland. Stay up to date with the latest developments in decarbonisation technologies and bring innovative ideas to support strategic growth. Collaborate within the team to scope and develop projects for the Sustainability portfolio. Lead and/or contribute to project workstream delivery with a focus on outcomes and impact. Develop and manage peer stakeholder relationships, including building trust with internal stakeholders and external clients. Contribute to the Team, Group, Division and Corporate KPIs. Demonstrate capacity across a broad spectrum of skills needed for business success. Travel within Australia may be required to fulfil the requirements of this role. Understanding of Queensland's emissions profile and the State and Federal Government targets, policies and strategies as they relate to emissions reduction. Tertiary qualification in a finance, economics, engineering, science, or related field Experience Essential
Minimum 2-5 years employment experience in roles that demonstrate overall competency. Relationship management skills including the proven ability to develop partnerships with clients and internal teams. Excellent report writing, financial analysis and presentation skills. Engaging and persuasive communication style. Critical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively diagnose situations and develop creative solutions. Desirable
Experience within financial services, resources, industry, agriculture and land, transport or renewable energy. Experience in evaluating emission reduction and decarbonisation initiatives (energy, climate or emissions modelling experience well regarded).
