What you'll do: Responsibility for the management of Hunter Water's three asset registers (accounting, tax and regulatory).
Responsibility for the timely addition of capital assets, including the processing of developer asset additions and retirements.
Preparation of month-end journals, adjustments, reconciliations and reporting of asset information.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and Australian Accounting Standards.
Assist in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets.
Assist with the processing of asset revaluations and impairments.
Assist in completion of early close and annual statutory financial statements for the Corporation.
Support the review of capital project work-in-progress.
Engage with all areas of the business to ensure efficient and effective capital and asset management practices at Hunter Water.
Develop, maintain, and review asset policies and procedures.
Provide capital project control support, this includes the preparation and processing of project administrative tasks such as opening, closing and revision of capital projects in the Corporation's enterprise resource planning system.
Compliance with and ongoing review of all relevant processes and procedures identifying improvements and efficiency gains where appropriate.
This includes providing support to ongoing improvement initiatives of the Capital and Asset function.
Assist with the preparation of Hunter Water's internal and external reporting requirements associated with assets.
Provide guidance and mentoring for other members of the finance team in relation to policy and processes relating to the asset registers.
What you'll need to be successful: Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
CPA or CA designation or working towards designation.
Demonstrated experience in asset accounting and/or capital project accounting.
Demonstrated understanding of commercial business principles and practices.
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven workplace and to effectively manage challenges and changing priorities whilst still meeting team and corporate deadlines.
Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate a high level of self-motivation.
Experience using enterprise resource systems in a corporate environment.
Experience in management of an Asset Register.
Demonstrated understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, accounting policies and practices.
