The role
Are you an experienced town planner looking to make an impact in a dynamic, inner-city environment?
North Sydney Council is seeking an experienced Senior Assessment Planner looking to take the next step in their career.

Our teams are responsible for assessing challenging development applications with a focus on preserving and protecting high value heritage areas, foreshores areas and sensitive environmental assets.
Our teams strive to achieve high quality planning and community outcomes which will provide for future generations.

You will have the opportunity to shape the future of North Sydney through management of work on a diverse range of applications in a unique and highly accessible part of our city.
This role will also be responsible for attending Local Planning Panel meetings, providing high quality town planning advice and responding to general public enquiries.
As a senior, you will also be called upon to manage land & environment court appeals and provide coaching and technical guidance to other members in the team.

The person
This role will suit a planner with a can-do attitude and the ability to convey complex information in a simple way through strong written and verbal communication.
This role demands an individual with exceptional frontline customer service, a sharp attention to detail, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to empathise with the customer's perspective.

The ideal applicant will thrive on taking on new challenges relating to a broad range of planning issues typical of a busy inner-city area, whilst being able to think critically and juggle multiple tasks.
