This is an exciting opportunity to join our Development Services team, where you'll play an integral role in the exponential growth and enhancement of our built environment within The Barossa Council's community.
You will be responsible for managing and effectively processing complex building applications, whilst ensuring they are assessed in line with the requirements of relevant Statutory requirements and delivering a positive and professional customer experience. Drawing upon your exceptional communication skills and your senior level experience, you will be focused on interpreting and applying legislation, and delivering specialist technical advice to members of the Barossa community.
Your professional communication and customer service skills will see you:
Provide specialist, technically proficient building advice, support and assistance to the organisation and broader community. Undertake onsite inspections and investigations, ensuring professional conduct and representation of Council whilst also ensuring compliance with Council's Building Inspection Policy and required legislation. Oversee application processing in addition to the management and end to end processing, assessment and approval of proposed development applications. Provide leadership as a senior member of a multi-disciplinary team including to provide and receive specialist advice on a range of issues and projects. Mentor and build capacity of the Cadetship Assessment Officer – Building. To be successful in this role you will require:
Relevant tertiary qualifications with a minimum of 5 years relevant senior level work experience. Accredited Professional Building Level 1 or 2 under the Accredited Professionals Scheme. A professional approach to complex problem solving with the capability to utilise high level interpersonal skills to resolve issues as it relates to the area. Strong communication (written and verbal), presentation and engagement skills with the ability to interact with people of all levels. This is a full-time position offered as a General Officer Level 6, at $109,268 p.a. plus superannuation. There is also an above award payment and use of a commuter vehicle for the right applicant (commensurate to experience).
