The Opportunity:
Urbis has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Archaeology Consultant to join our team in Sydney!
In this role you will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of Archaeology principles and legislative requirements, to undertake historic and/or Aboriginal archaeology.
This includes undertaking and leading field work and preparing high-quality archaeological assessments to provide both technical and strategic advice to our clients.
You will:
Lead consultation and fieldwork in accordance with the relevant NSW legislative guidelines and protocols.
Demonstrate high-level research, interpretation, report writing and communication skills.
Direct and train consultants and assistant consultants.
Assist in the undertaking of projects, client and other stakeholder relationships and work to specification and deadlines.
Work alongside other professionals on a range of multi-disciplinary projects, working to specification, deadlines, budget and with a commercial outcome.
Work across a wide range of applications to develop proposals, tenders & submissions for potential projects.
Manage own time in line with budgets.
Promote the firm and its services to create business opportunities.
About You:
Tertiary qualifications in archaeology.
5+ years of demonstrated experience and strong track record with a similar role at a similar level.
Demonstrates a proficient understanding of and ability to apply statutory heritage legislation, principles, and guidelines under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 and the NSW Heritage Act 1977.
Proficient in preparing Due Diligence Assessments, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessments, and Historical Archaeological Assessments.
Extensive experience managing consultation under the Aboriginal cultural heritage consultation requirements for proponents.
Ability to undertake archaeology research utilising multiple sources and methodologies to present accurate preliminary assessment of findings.
Ability to lead fieldwork projects including test excavations, salvage excavations and archaeological survey.
Experience in client management and project management, including delegation of work to team members.
Ability to prioritise and manage the competing demands of multiple assignments and/or projects within agreed timeframe and budget.
Experience in providing and receiving feedback to/from other team members, ability to remain objective.
