Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager (Historical)

We are seeking a proactive archaeologist with demonstrated experience in Victoria, who specialises in historical archaeology to join our team. As part of your role, you will work on a range of interesting projects across the greater Melbourne region, with general tasks that include field assessments, reporting, and project management. You will work under the supervision of the company Directors; however, you will also be able to work autonomously and provide direct supervision to junior staff members.
About you: At least 3 years' experience working in a similar role in Victoria.Proactive attitude and takes initiative.Detailed understanding of the Heritage Act 2017, Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, and Aboriginal Heritage Regulations 2018.Comfortable with providing timely advice to clients on a wide range of archaeological heritage matters, drawing on above-mentioned legislation.Comfortable with assisting the Indigenous archaeology team with CHMP assessments and other relevant tasks when required.Able to manage and delegate tasks to other junior staff members and subcontractors relating to the management of archaeological sites within strict timeframes and budgets.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent time management skills.Team player, able to execute tasks in a timely manner, autonomously or as instructed by company Directors.Required Skills/Experience: Honours or Master's degree in Archaeology, preferably with a focus on Australian historical archaeology.Experience writing and submitting Heritage Victoria consent applications.Experience recording and supervising historical sites.Experience in compiling data/research and contributing to archaeological reports for historical sites.Project management experience.Experience working within the requirements of the above-mentioned legislation.Listed on the FP-SR Heritage Advisor List (or able to apply).Ability to travel to regional sites for short or extended periods of time, depending on field work schedules.Desirable Skills/Experience: Illustrator/technical drawing experience.Summary of role requirements: Looking for candidates available to work:Monday: Morning, AfternoonTuesday: Morning, AfternoonWednesday: Morning, AfternoonThursday: Morning, AfternoonFriday: Morning, Afternoon2-3 years of relevant work experience required for this roleWorking rights required for this roleExpected start date for role: 06 January 2025 #J-18808-Ljbffr
