Position Overview: Provide primary AOD support services within public prison environments across Victoria as part of a dedicated healthcare team.
Deliver harm minimisation programs for individuals in custody, empowering them through coping strategies, drug awareness, and relapse prevention to support rehabilitation.
Contribute to the development and delivery of AOD programs, supporting people to address complex needs within the justice system.
Job Description: The AOD Senior Program Facilitator plays a key role in providing assessment, support, and education on Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) issues to incarcerated individuals.
This position focuses on harm minimisation, providing group and individual support to foster recovery and independence.
The role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, committed to client confidentiality, and aligned with the goal of delivering safe, person-centered care in a correctional environment.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough AOD assessments and collaborate on tailored treatment plans emphasizing harm minimisation.
Facilitate group programs focused on drug awareness, relapse prevention, and development of coping strategies.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to provide holistic, recovery-focused care.
Document client interactions accurately, including case notes, treatment summaries, and data management.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clients to support effective program delivery and communication.
Adhere to ethical and legal guidelines within the Victorian Criminal Justice System.
Skills and Experience: Minimum qualification of Certificate IV or Diploma in AOD or related field.
Proven experience as a Senior Clinician in AOD support or extensive experience in the AOD sector, with knowledge of harm minimisation, person-centered care, and dual diagnosis support.
Demonstrated experience facilitating group programs, particularly those focused on harm reduction, drug awareness, and relapse prevention.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to document and maintain quality records.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and across agency partnerships.
Familiarity with the Victorian Criminal Justice System is desirable, particularly in relation to the Courts, prisons, and community corrections.
Other Requirements: Valid Australian driver's licence with the ability to travel between sites.
Ability to work within prison settings, including obtaining and maintaining necessary security clearances.
National Criminal History Check completion.
Flexibility to work outside standard business hours as required.
