(HEO4) $71,460 to $78,326 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.
Full Time, Continuing Position The Laboratory Animal Services (LAS) is seeking to appoint a full-time experienced Senior Animal Technician to join the team at the North Terrace Campus.
The Senior Animal Technician will support the Team Leader directly and the team in delivering research support through best practice animal care.
They will act as a mentor as they guide and knowledge share with less experienced Animal Technicians and promote animal welfare with respect to animal production, care and research.
This role will provide the successful candidate a variety of responsibilities, ranging from routine animal husbandry, managing rodent breeding colonies through to providing technical skills training to staff and researchers.
Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a passion for animal care, committed to progressing their career in the laboratory animal field and with established skills and experience in a biomedical research facility setting.
To be successful you will need: Demonstrated understanding of the Australian code of practice for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes.
Demonstrated commitment to animal care.
Demonstrated experience in, and knowledge of, biomedical research animal husbandry.
Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.
Desirable Completion of the Diploma of Animal Technology or equivalent; or An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
