Position Summary
The work of the Data Governance and Integration Group (DGIG) includes:
Building and implementing the Institute's data integration strategies including major data assets. Protecting the confidentiality and privacy of Institute data holdings through data governance leadership. Managing key relationships across government in support of the public sector data agenda. The Ethics and Privacy Unit (EPU)
The EPU provides support to the activities of the AIHW by:
Ensuring the Institute's compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and relevant governance obligations. Coordinating key Institute data governance activities and policies. Providing advice and secretariat support to the AIHW Ethics Committee. The EPU is looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent policy, governance, and secretariat skills.
Under general direction you will:
Interpret and apply legislation, policies, and instruments relevant to the Ethics Committee's work. Provide detailed advice to the committee and the Institute on complex ethical and legislative matters. Identify, propose and implement business improvement activities. Provide efficient and effective secretariat and governance support to the Ethics Committee. Manage complex projects and activities and provide professional and/or administrative support. Work collaboratively with the Unit Head and other officers to provide leadership and direction. Selection Criteria
Our ideal candidate will have most or all of the following skills and knowledge:
Demonstrated policy and governance skills. Strong understanding of relevant legislation. Understanding of the Australian ethics framework. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to achieve results. Proven ability to build a positive team environment. Relevant qualifications in law, policy, research, and/or research ethics. Eligibility
