Join our Finance Division as a Senior Analyst in our Life Business Performance Team Our Life Business Performance Team, play a fundamental role in the delivery of management reporting results and analysis for our Challenger Life business.
As a Senior Analyst you'll gain fantastic exposure in a tight knit, cohesive and collaborative team, who are passionate about continuous improvement.
You'll be joining a high performing, collaborative and business orientated team that works closely with our Life Business, Treasury and Finance teams offering you broad exposure and learning experiences.
We work flexibly from our Sydney CBD Office where you can expect to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
About the role As our Senior Analyst, Business Performance, you'll be assisting in the monthly production of financial analysis and management reporting and analysis for senior management and our board, working with key stakeholders across the Group.
You'll deal with key senior stakeholders, including: the CEO, the CFO; the Life Chief Executive; the Life CFO, Appointed Actuary; the Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Managers; Challenger Life Company and Group Boards and Investor Relations giving you great exposure and learning opportunities.
Other key responsibilities will include: Creating the normalised profit result, analysing variances to budget, monthly P&L and balance sheet analysis, and quarterly and semi-annual ASX and market disclosures.
Analysis and explanation of P&L and balance sheet movements across the full suite of Challenger Life's financial assets: fixed income, property, alternatives, equities and infrastructure portfolios.
Understanding and reporting on fixed income attribution- FX, interest rates, credit spread etc.
Understanding new transactions and systems and assessing their impact on the team.
Work closely with the wider Business Performance teams to deliver performance reports, analyst information, budgets as well as ad-hoc analysis.
Preparation and posting of journals into the general ledger (Workday) for application of Challenger's management reporting framework.
You will also have the opportunity to gain exposure and experience in: Preparation of month end reporting pack and commentary.
Monitoring credit quality of the fixed income portfolio Analyst pack preparation ASX FUM reporting and accompanying explanations Project work and ongoing process improvements Integration of data analytics from a recently announced partnership with State Street for investment administration.
Exposure to Anaplan modelling system, dependent on experience The skills you'll need You'll have an analytical background with at least 3-5 years relevant experience within banking, financial services and/or investment management in an analyst type role.
You'll have a critical thinking and analytical mind set with a history of breaking down problems, finding key issues and resolving with a range of different options.
You'll be a strong user of MS Office in particular Microsoft Excel and be comfortable working with large amounts of data ideally with some experience of building excel based models for analysis and ad-hoc reporting.
You'll also have Strong communication and interpersonal skills to help communicate complex data in a concise and clear manner to your wider team and stakeholders.
Knowledge of financial products (e.g., fixed income/equities/bonds) Desire to and experience of working in a collaborative team environment Highly desirable (but not essential) Experience of using SQL (Writing queries, database design / management) Experience with Anaplan or other multi-dimensional planning tool (e.g., TM1) is highly regarded but not essential.
