We are seeking an experienced and energetic allied health practitioner with an interest in veterans' health. The ideal candidate will have at least seven years' experience as a practicing practitioner and demonstrated experience leading diverse teams. You need to possess excellent leadership and demonstrated ability to cultivate high performing teams, excellent organisational skills, ability to drive clinical governance, quality improvement and change management within the teams, ability to manage competing priorities with fluctuating workloads, and demonstrated ability to support and operationalise strategic goals. The successful candidate will have the ability to develop, analyse, interpret and provide high level strategic advice on allied health principles and practices.You will promote workplace practices consistent with the APS Values and have excellent interpersonal skills. Executive Level 2 employees are strong managers and create an environment that empowers their staff to give their best.The key duties of the position include Provide clinical leadership and management at an executive level to the contracted clinical adviser workforce within the allied health, physical therapies, occupational therapy and nursing teams. Lead and direct clinical governance, clinical risk management and continuous clinical improvement management strategies within the allied and nursing adviser workforce.Contribute to the development and implementation of the DVA integrity framework and oversee/monitor integrity activities relating to allied health providers. Support/lead initiatives in the allied health environment to support programs or policy projects which may include government agreed recommendations from the Royal Commission.Establish principles, standards and procedures for the conduct of service delivery to DVA business areas for allied health and nursing functions. This includes overseeing team compliance with DVA and Health Branch policy and procedures.Be the advice and escalation point for complex, urgent, ambiguous or sensitive requests for funding of allied health services. Establish and oversee training and development programs for clinical advisers within the respective teams in collaboration with the Senior Adviser of the team. Provide advice to DVA / CHO senior leadership regarding the impact of policy and procedural changes, as they relate to allied health. Including preparing briefs for Senior Executives or Ministerial representations as required.Responsible for establishing positive team culture, monitoring team workloads, and conducting performance reviews for the contracted senior advisers of the respective teams.Provide insight to industry trends, standards of care and current clinical practise within the allied and nursing environment (in conjunction with the respective senior advisers). Act as DVA Allied Health representative on departmental (internal or external) committees, working groups or advisory boards as required. Collaborate with the Provider Engagement Team on DVA provider education activities.Provide assistance to the Deputy Chief Health Officer (DCHO) and the Chief Health Officer (CHO) as required.
