The ideal applicant will have a deep understanding of the role of the Advisory Visiting Teacher (AVT - Low Incidence Disability) and will provide professional support, advice, and mentoring to AVTs working in their specialist educational field.

About the Role The Senior AVT joins the overall leadership team of the Statewide Services portfolio, led by the Director, Statewide Services, which provides strategic oversight and management of borderless services including Statewide Vision Impairment, Deaf/hard of hearing, Physical Impairment, Assistive Technologies, and Loan and Equipment trial services.
The Senior AVT works collaboratively with and under the direction of the specific impairment area Team Lead to develop and determine the key priorities and delivery of a borderless and centralised Statewide service. They support the Team Lead in the development and implementation of AVT caseloads and resources and assist with the management of AVT visit trackers, calendars, and travel requirements.
The Senior AVT reports to the specific disability area Team Lead and provides AVTs with professional support, advice, professional development, and assistance to resolve issues as they arise.
There may be up to six positions available in 2025 across the three low incidence disability areas. Base locations are negotiable, and applicants from all locations are encouraged to apply to ensure a pool of recommended applicants is available for additional positions as they become available throughout the year.

Some travel may be required by the successful applicant to provide face-to-face support and professional learning delivery to AVTs statewide.
A mandatory requirement of this role is: Current full registration, or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.
