The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and supports community safety outcomes.The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), and the broader department working together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate, and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities while supporting our large volunteer membership across the state.The QFD is focused on reframing the department's relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap, and building our cultural capability.Purpose of the roleThe Relations and Standards branch ensures QFD's workforce upholds the highest levels of professional and ethical standards as expected by the Queensland Government and the community.
This is achieved through managing workplace complaints, conducting high-level and complex disciplinary investigations, and proactively identifying and providing advice on conduct-related matters.
Workforce Support includes the Workforce Liaison; Honours, Reward and Recognition; and the Workplace Standards teams, supported by a regional network of Senior Advisors, Workplace Standards (SAWS).Reporting to the Principal Advisor, you will provide advice and support to regional and state senior managers, staff, and volunteers to build capability in effective case management of performance and conduct issues.
You will develop strategies to reduce instances of poor workplace conduct and increase positive workplace experience while supporting improvements in systems and processes for safe and sustainable service delivery.Key requirementsHighly desirable requirementsMinimum C Class Driver's Licence (non-restricted).
