The Senior Advisor Sustainability & Governance oversees key governance, risk management and continuous improvement activities within the sustainability team.
This includes maintaining relevant policies, frameworks, standards and guidelines that are owned or administered by the sustainability team, supporting the sustainability program of work, and leading sustainability initiatives as required.
What you'll do Coordinate and maintain the Group sustainability governance program to ensure adherence to the Policy Suite.
Manage relevant risks and compliance obligations within the sustainability team effectively.
Maintain a comprehensive sustainability framework outlining risk and opportunity management, roles, decision-making authorities, and escalation processes.
Conduct scheduled reviews of existing sustainability policies, guidelines, and standards, and assist in the development of new ones as necessary.
Implement and oversee sustainability governance documentation, including the Sustainable Insurance Policy and Sensitive Sector Standards.
Ensure adequate governance mechanisms are in place for developing and implementing sustainability plans, such as Suncorp's Financial Inclusion and Reconciliation Action Plans.
Oversee governance and verification of sustainability reporting and disclosures, including annual reports and ESG rating agency submissions.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance compliance with operational and regulatory requirements and manage risks effectively.
Provide strategic advice and tactical support to business stakeholders and the broader sustainability team.
Support the sustainability team's engagement with internal governance bodies, including the Board and Executive Leadership Team.
Undertake additional tasks as required, leading and supporting various initiatives within the sustainability program.
Set and achieve personal learning and development goals.
What you'll bring Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, finance, strategy, business or sustainability-related discipline.
Experience in a similar position within financial services or related industry Minimum of 5 years' experience in a risk, governance or compliance role Experience in a sustainability-related role or function desirable Experience with designing and delivering change or stakeholder centric programs Strong cross functional stakeholder management experience Culture At Suncorp, our purpose has been at the core of our business for over 100 years.
