Salary Range: $120,859 to $133,183 p.base salary + super
People Services, People & Culture, Department of Customer Service About the Opportunity: The People & Culture Division at the Department of Customer Service has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Advisor, Work Health Safety Management System, Programs and Delivery to join our high-performing and progressive Safety & Risk Management team.
This is a great opportunity to work collaboratively within a centralised People Services Centre of Expertise function, in which you will conduct a range of activities including:
Support the implementation and management of the work health and safety management system (WHSMS) to drive the continuous improvement of health and safety.Contribute to the analysis of WHS performance and support the development and implementation of risk management strategies and overall program review to support a proactive approach to hazard and incident prevention strategies.Provide strategic expert WHS advice and support to senior leaders across the Department and WHS Committees, Health and Safety Representatives and other groups.Provide information and advice to support managers in meeting their responsibilities related to work health and safety, injury management and workers compensation matters.Maintain a sound understanding of individual business risks, its challenges, and objectives and develop strong client and team relationships to ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into the organization's plans and priorities and meeting customer requirements.Work collaboratively with your peers to embed modern and agile ways of working to deliver a world-class people and culture function and create great employee experiences.Your day-to-day: Your responsibilities will include the implementation and delivery of the WHS management system and procedures, management of hazards/incidents, assisting managers and supervisors with relevant reviews and risk assessments, providing support to workers, WHS Committees and work groups, and assisting in the implementation of risk identification and control strategies for specific activities. Deliver and present WHS performance reports and insights on a regular basis to executives and senior leaders while embedding a strong risk-management focused approach. Lead and develop a team of safety professionals.
About You: To be successful in this role you will possess a great blend of skills, including:
Previous experience in a work health and safety role, ideally within a government or large organisation.Strong knowledge and understanding of work health and safety legislation and regulations in New South Wales with a familiarity of international standards.Demonstrated experience in managing WHS compliance.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in WHS management software and reporting tools.A collaborative and proactive approach with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and also work independently.A customer-centric and growth mindset with great communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Experience with continuous improvement activities to deliver business outcomes.We support and promote flexible working options and encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and regional NSW locations to apply.
