Senior Advisor Right to Information & PrivacyJustice and Attorney-General (Organisation site) Right to Information & Privacy Unit; General Counsel; Portfolio Governance and Executive Services; Brisbane CityAs Senior Advisor you will be responsible for making decisions under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) and for providing policy, strategic and operational advice in respect of the management, development, and implementation of the Government's strategic priorities on right to information and information privacy.You will be responsible for helping to drive the visibility of RTI and Privacy and promoting an RTI and Privacy compliant culture across DJAG by:Making reviewable information access decisions under the RTI and IP Acts in accordance with the principles of those Acts, and administrative release guidelines, regarding access to information, or amendment of personal information, recorded on departmental documents.Liaising, consulting, negotiating and providing advice to internal and external stakeholders in relation to requests under the RTI Act, the IP Act or administrative release and the requirements and application of right to information and information privacy in the department.Assisting with the identification, development and implementation of appropriate right to information and information privacy procedures and practice standards to ensure the ongoing efficient and effective implementation of right to information and information privacy in the Department.Investigating, managing, reporting and making meaningful recommendations on information privacy complaints and breaches received by the Department.Managing mediations and external reviews with the Office of the Information Commissioner in consultation with the Principal Advisor, Manager and Director and effectively implementing their recommendations.Preparing and managing appeals to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal in consultation with the Principal Advisor, Manager, Director and Legal Advice and Advocacy and, when appropriate, brief Legal Counsel.Delivering and assisting with the development of training to all DJAG officers, including Senior Executive Officers and Ministerial officers, where necessary.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/593512/24Further informationWe are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity.Please ensure you download all attachments and follow the instructions on how to apply.
