The Senior Adviser is primarily focused on exploring and assisting to develop key policies and legislation associated with the Women's Safety and Justice Taskforce recommendations relevant to the operation of corrective services.
This role works collaboratively with a team of policy advisers to identify, assess, and prioritise potential opportunities for legislative reform and manage these initiatives through the government endorsement, drafting and parliamentary consideration stages.

Yearly salary: $114625 - $122400
Fortnightly salary: $4393.60 - $4691.60
Job duration: Up until 30 June 2025 with possible extension
Assist with the development and implementation of policy and legislation as relevant for QCS strategic directions, priorities and outcomes. Provide high quality reports, submissions, advice and critical analysis on significant, emerging and/or substantive policy and legislative issues to the Minister, Commissioner and Executive Leadership levels. Prepare complex submissions and reports, briefing notes, presentations, publications and correspondence for various audiences, including Cabinet, Parliament and the general public. Analyse emerging issues relating to offenders and corrective services that may be addressed through policy, legislative or procedural changes. Assist with the development and delivery of legislative proposals that meet community needs and expectations. Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of legislation, policy and procedures in relation to the management of offenders and prisoners. Ensure appropriate and ethical decision making regarding the development and implementation of proposals for legislative reform across the QCS. Participate in project activities which deliver clearly specified legislative outcome/s. Develop effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and represent QCS in inter-agency negotiations. Applications to remain current for 12 months.
