MCV The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year.
The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the Role The Office of the Chief Executive Officer (OCEO) is a fast-paced and diverse environment.
The role of Senior Advisor is to provide high-quality policy and strategic advice with oversight from the Principal Advisor to the CEO.
Offered on a fixed-term full-time basis until 30 June 2025, the Senior Advisor is an integral member of the OCEO and directly supports the Principal Advisor in their role.
This role supports the strategic operations of the OCEO and also proactively addresses the strategic needs of the CEO, undertaking key planning and project activities.
The incumbent must be prepared to deal effectively and promptly with a wide range of issues and projects from a range of influential, high-profile stakeholders.
The role operates within a complex and dynamic environment that requires a capacity to exercise sound judgement with oversight from the Principal Advisor and to undertake effective and timely actions.
Key accountabilities include: Proactively addressing the strategic needs of the OCEO in the review, critical analysis, coordination and preparation of papers, speeches, presentations, correspondence, reports, briefings, submissions and responses to departmental and legislative requests.Undertaking research and analysis on strategic management projects to support the identification, management and development of advice on core business requirements.Working closely with the Principal Advisor to the CEO, support the coordination, interpretation and dissemination of high-level information to:Ensure that briefings and other information submitted to, or required by, the CEO is appropriate for its purpose, complete and provided within critical timelines.Ensure appropriate coordination and communication with other Executive members, Judiciary and a wide range of stakeholders and clients.Managing the seamless coordination of work across multiple functions and divisions, providing for alignment, efficiency, and proactive communication to meet deadlines and support workflow, strategic objectives and organisational priorities.Identifying and investigating emerging issues facing the Court and under the direction of the Principal Advisor, deliver appropriate review initiatives to ensure compliance with legislative and policy reform activities and changes in the external environment.Supporting the Principal Advisor to effectively pursue, develop and implement key strategic priorities within the OCEO.Building and maintaining effective and productive working relationships through consultation and collaboration with senior internal and external stakeholders including the chambers of the Chief Magistrate, the executive team, senior leadership and specialist committees representing the OCEO and the Court.Preparing correspondence, undertaking secretariat functions and project coordination through collaboration with the Principal Advisor and the CEO.Undertaking research and preparing strategic advice, information and briefings on diverse and complex legal, policy, strategic and operational matters as required to facilitate informed decision-making.About You Tertiary qualification in law, business administration, public policy or relevant field would be highly desirable.A strategic understanding of the Court's policy environment, capable of advising the CEO on key priorities.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships effectively.Excellent analytical and research skills to lead strategic initiatives and ensure quality in all documents entering the Office of the CEO.How to apply Click the 'Apply Now' button, ensuring you include the following in your application:
