The Senior Advisor, Parole Board Secretariat role ensures that the Parole Board Secretariat (the Secretariat) supports the Board through the provision of administrative support including secretary functions in accordance with the Agency's statutory obligations under the CSA relating to the operations of the Board.

It is also responsible for the supervision and management of staff within the Secretariat to ensure that appropriate and accurate advice is provided to QCS management, staff and offenders in relation to parole board matters. The position also provides a quality assurance process for work performed by Secretariat staff.

The Senior Advisor, Parole Board Secretariat must demonstrate: Current and detailed knowledge of the offender management systems and processes and its association with the Board;High level consultation, negotiation and communication skills to ensure communication processes are effectively managed across a diverse range of stakeholders;Written communication skills, particularly the ability to prepare complex and sensitive reports, briefings, policy papers and correspondence;Exposure to the Criminal Justice System or recent workplace experience in a similar field would be an advantage;Highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to set priorities, coordinate activities and monitor and report on the effectiveness of strategies and projects to management;Ability to confidently provide information and advice to management in relation to offender management issues particularly those related to board matters;Ability to comprehensively understand and interpret legislation and apply this across the development of operational guidelines and procedures;Are resilient to remain motivated in achieving high standards in the delivery of essential frontline services;Staff management skills and experience including knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to implement contemporary human resource management practices.Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications for this position, tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as management or criminal justice would be highly desirable.
