About your potential new position: Glencore's Zinc Capital Studies & Projects group is seeking an Environment & Community Advisor for a 14-month fixed term to cover one of our team on leave.
The group is responsible for a range of studies in various stages of progress, ensuring alignment with Glencore values, policies, goals, and governance, and delivery of studies in a multi-disciplinary setting.
We support various aspects of sustainable development, including the biophysical and human environment, stakeholder analysis, environmental approvals, and closure planning.
Reporting to the Principal - Environment & Community, you will use your expertise to support the delivery of technical studies and approvals primarily for an open-cut mining project with the potential for other projects as assigned.
You will engage with technical professionals, be responsible for managing project environmental risks, and meeting study requirements as per Glencore's standards and applicable legislation.
In this role you will: Assist the Sustainable Development team in the development of an open-cut mining project.
Be a technical subject matter expert for environment and community, working in pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, and development of key regulatory approvals.
Advance work on environmental, human, or regulatory risks and issues, providing pathways to resolution and management measures.
Provide consultant management and support for Project Management activities.
Assist or contribute to the writing and reviewing of reports, scopes of work, and presentations.
Participate in meetings and communications with project teams and site management, including visits to operating mine sites.
Our expectations of your qualifications, skills, and experience: Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Approximately five years or more of experience relevant to sustainable development in mining, including environmental planning and technical studies and approvals.
Knowledge and experience in Australian Environmental legislation (particularly Queensland), Environmental Assessments, and regulator and stakeholder engagement strategies.
You are knowledgeable in biophysical and human environment disciplines.
You require limited supervision, are good at prioritizing, and work well with others in a team.
You have the ability and willingness to travel to Mount Isa approximately 10 to 20% of your time.
