Senior Advisor, ControllershipCareer opportunity to be part of the Rio Tinto Finance teamWork from home / office flexibility, excellent employee benefits12 months fixed term contract | full time | Location - Perth CBDWork for a diverse and global organisationAbout the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are seeking a passionate and engaging Senior Advisor, Controllership to partner with the Rio Tinto Aluminium (Pacific Smelters) Business Unit.Reporting to the Manager Controllership, you will work in collaboration with the Closing & Reporting teams and Finance Business Partners (FBP), where you will be responsible for the provision of timely and accurate financial statements, management reporting and analysis in accordance with IFRS and Rio Tinto policies.Key responsibilities of the role include:Provide analysis of the monthly and annual financial results that will serve for management and external reporting.Ensuring compliance with adequate internal controls, SOX standard and Rio Tinto's accounting policies.Preparing papers on accounting and reporting treatment of Pacific Smelters transactions.Management of statutory account audits.Provide technical accounting and financial advisory support.Manage smelter closure/rehabilitation models.Manage lease accounting assessments.Derivative and impairment month-end accounting.Capital expenditure applications accounting review.Support the Controllership function to standardise and optimise its processes.What you'll bringTo succeed in this role, you will have:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with strong technical accounting skills.Accounting certification (CA or CPA).Experience working with and influencing external auditors.Big 4 audit experience and knowledge and experience in the mining sector and/or smelting would be highly desirable.Experience writing accounting papers.Advanced Excel skills, working knowledge of SAP would be highly desirable.Ability to make connections between financial information and business activities to provide insightful analysis.Very good business acumen, proactive nature and the ability to interact and collaborate effectively with colleagues.Strong verbal and written communication skills.What we offerBe recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you've helped the world progress.A work environment where safety is always the number one priority.Flexible working from home arrangements as per operational requirements.A competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with annual incentive program.Comprehensive medical benefits including subsidised private health insurance for employees and immediate family.Company provided insurance cover.Ongoing access to family-friendly health and medical wellbeing support.Leave for all of life's reasons (vacation/annual, paid parental, sick leave).Exclusive employee discounts (banking, accommodation, cars, retail and more).Relocation packages where suitable.About Rio TintoRio Tinto is a leading global mining and materials company.
