Until October 2025 with the possibility of extensionThe Rail Corridor Management (RCM) team is part of the Development Projects and Rail Corridor Management unit, responsible for ensuring the integrity of the state's open and closed rail corridors, and for the day-to-day operations and continued development of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT).The purpose of the Senior Advisor (Communications) is to lead the development and delivery of communication strategies and promotional materials for the 161km BVRT. The BVRT follows the disused Brisbane Valley rail corridor from Wulkuraka to Yarraman and provides economic development and employment opportunities for businesses in the towns along the trail. You may also be required to deliver a similar function for rail trails around Queensland.Some of your responsibilities will include:Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including state government agencies, tourism bodies, local governments, and community groups, to support communication activities for the BVRT and other rail trails.Use high-level verbal and written communication skills to develop and implement communication strategies for the BVRT and other rail trails, online and social media content, and other project-related communication activities in line with Queensland Government and departmental guidelines.Collaborate with the Corporate Communication and Media Branch and key stakeholders to develop a wide range of communication materials, including online and social media content, communication and marketing plans, and online resources that promote the BVRT and rail trails, including managing any external suppliers.Provide advice to leadership and stakeholders on communication and promotional strategies and initiatives to increase engagement and visitation to the BVRT and other rail trails.Where required, work across the Development Projects and Rail Corridor Management team on varied projects to provide assistance on communication and promotion strategies.Applications will remain current for 12 months.Further information
