Senior Adviser - Social Impact

Details of the offer

Environment & Sustainability Consulting (Consulting & Strategy) Shape the future of community engagement with Voconiq Voconiq is a data-driven startup giving communities a voice in the industries that impact their lives.
We help organisations move beyond just listening to actively engaging with communities to create meaningful, mutually beneficial outcomes.
Through our advanced data analytics and advice we bring the 'Social' to the measurement of ESG performance.
We operate in 11 countries across five continents.
Our advice often helps companies and communities in contested spaces find constructive ways forward.
Our clients range from renewable energy and mining companies to local governments and agricultural industries—all united by a commitment to integrating community voices into their decisions.
At Voconiq, what drives us is helping communities articulate their experiences, concerns, and aspirations in ways that make sense to our clients.
We're growing fast, with big plans on the horizon.
Just like the communities we serve, we're a diverse team seeking people with fresh ideas, new ways of working, and the passion to make an impact—both locally and globally.
Our team spans Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, São Paulo, Harare, and more.
About the role The Senior Adviser – Social Impact will lead and shape complex social performance projects in Australia and globally, working directly with clients in the resources, infrastructure, and renewables sectors.
You will translate sophisticated community sentiment data into actionable insights that enhance social performance and community engagement.
This includes developing social performance strategies, providing practical advice to clients managing difficult community relationships, conducting desktop research to inform your recommendations, and delivering social performance training.
Frequent travel to client sites—often in regional Australia and possibly overseas—is part of the role, as is direct engagement with community members to understand their concerns around major projects.
You'll also develop networks across sectors to win paid consulting work, leading the development of proposals to new clients, as well as identifying opportunities to expand advisory services for existing clients.
Essential skills and experience 3+ years in consultancy roles within the resources, infrastructure, or renewables sectors, and/or in a social performance/community engagement position with an organisation that has significant social impacts.
Strong understanding of the concepts of and research around community trust, social licence, and social impact, alongside understanding different industry frameworks for social performance and community engagement.
Hands-on experience of engaging with diverse, often vulnerable, communities impacted by major projects.
This may include experience of working in high-conflict environments with stakeholders who have varied and strongly held perspectives and values.
Excellent research and writing skills, with the ability to organise and analyse quantitative and qualitative data to create concise client insights.
Strong organisational skills, preferably with experience using project management tools and software such as Microsoft Office and Jira.
Desirable skills and experience: We're a growing technology driven startup, and that means innovation is at the heart of our practice.
So, we're always keen to hear from people who can bring something to the firm that we don't even know we need yet, and that will help grow the firm for tomorrow – not just deliver the work of today.
Design skills or an ability to enhance the presentation of data and insights to drive action.
Voconiq's clients are global in scope, so fluency in languages such as French, Spanish, Bahasa Indonesia, or Portuguese - is always welcome.
Interested  This role can be based in either our Melbourne or Brisbane offices.
We offer a genuinely flexible work environment, so we are happy to work with the right candidate to design work arrangements that work best for both sides.
