Senior Administration Assistant Public Health Unit About The Role The position of Public Health Unit Senior Administration Assistant is responsible for the provision of professional, confidential, and efficient administrative support for the Dubbo Public Health Unit office, including supporting the Public Health Unit with emergency management issues and outbreaks.
You will be required to assist the Director to prioritise their workload and manage their time, including but not limited to maintaining and monitoring the Manager's diary, screening telephone enquiries, reviewing incoming and outgoing correspondence, and tracking progress of matters with deadlines or closing dates.
The role of the Public Health Unit is to identify, prevent and minimise public health risks to the community, which may be infectious, chemical, or radiological in nature. These risks may be caused by humans, animals, or the inanimate environment.
Public health staff work closely with general practitioners, community nurses, hospital-based clinicians, pathology laboratories, schools, childcare centres, local councils, and other government agencies to protect public health. The team also responds to complaints from the public concerning significant risks to public health.
