Position summary Aim to ensure there is no surprise accounting for all clients through having a sound knowledge in interpreting the financials to provide clear and digestible information to clients. Communicate effectively and promptly. Ability to lead and train accountants who you will be working alongside. Brave and vulnerable regarding communicating openly and without hesitation to team and clients. Oversight of workflow and deliverables and being disciplined in meeting deadlines.
Position Responsibilities Wear opportunity goggles to find outcome-based projects for your clients. Create the environment and lead meaningful discussions with clients and your team where collaboration and innovation drive progress towards the clients' "why". Manage the constantly competing priorities where important jobs are delivered on time without undue stress. Where necessary invite expertise and assistance early, for the best interests of your team and clients. Promote and develop PB+F values and the PB+F way. Manage their own development; professionally (including technical and soft skills) as well as personally. Continuously refine your ideal client and service offerings so that you are professionally challenged and fulfilled. Produce work that is accurate and reliable. Work needs to be accomplished in an efficient and timely manner. Provide clients with exceptional service. Understand and explore client's needs, wants, and issues. Continue to search for ways to improve service and quality of work. Clearly express thoughts and ideas both written and verbally and needs to be able to listen well. Keep others adequately informed (clients, team members etc). Weigh alternatives and make decisions based on facts of the situation. Ability to learn and apply new skills. Lead in a way that will inspire others. Strives to be direct, truthful, and honest. Takes responsibility for actions or inactions. Embraces diversity – appreciate each person's unique contribution. Be cooperative and encourage courage – be a positive contributor to PB & F culture. Work effectively with others. Set clear goals and standards. Set and communicate clear direction to team members. Preparation and view of the following documents: - Tax Returns for Individuals, Partnerships, Trusts & Companies
- Annual Reports for Individuals, Partnerships, Trusts & Companies
- Business Activity Statements
- Instalment Activity Statements
- Annual GST Statements
Ensure all the above documents to be lodged on time. Liaise with the ATO regarding debts and lodgments for clients. Prepare tax planning documents for clients each month or quarter (depending on the client). Provide ad hoc advice to clients in a timely manner. Provide bookkeeping advice for various software including Xero & MYOB. Be able to take responsibility for your own time management. Attend training sessions as provided. Provide general advice regarding payroll obligations incl super – sometimes looking after obligations in Xero or with the ATO clearing house. Keep on top of Payroll tax issues / OSR. Spend time on professional development. Deal with client bookkeeping transactional details in various software types. Preparing monthly profit and loss and balance sheet reports as needed. Managing and training staff as required. Provide work for review to Director. Bring potential client issues to the attention of the Director. Keep an eye out for potential issues for client (e.g., Div 7a, Land tax, etc). Ad hoc research. A senior accountant will be expected to take ownership of the following competencies personally, as well as manage a team ensuring their outcomes are also positive:
Regular contact with clients, utilising the most appropriate medium, to ensure engagement with them. Proactive management of all compliance services to ensure internal and external parties are meeting their obligations to ensure timely preparation. Proactive management of all business service engagements to ensure delivery of high-quality advice and resources. Regular positive interactions in internal meetings, helping to drive continuous improvement of internal processes, mentoring team members and promoting the values of the firm. Wherever possible seek to engage new clients who fit with the firm culture, and new services to existing clients. Provision of strategic advice, innovative solutions, and excellent service to our core market of small-medium businesses. Provide support and develop capability among team members, including delegating and reviewing their work. Provide business advisory and accounting advice to a sustainable and profitable portfolio of clients. Produce compliance documents, special purpose financial statements and quarterly management reports. Continue ongoing training to ensure skills remain current and relevant. Preparation of income tax returns and financial statements for all entity types. Preparation of BAS and IAS. Ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues. Manage budgets and other KPI's. Identify avenues to grow the fee base. Takes all high-level traffic, high-end tax planning and strategy advice. Excel. Business acumen. Position Qualifications The candidate will be expected to hold CA qualifications (or similar) and maintain their ongoing CPD requirements. From time to time this will require travel to development events.
Position Experience Required Minimum 12 months experience as Senior Accountant.
