About the Opportunity
The position will provide support, mentoring and leadership to the Aboriginal Programs team and for health promotion in SWSLHD and partner organisations. It will oversee the management of three Aboriginal Health Workers and 2 Health Promotion Officers. The position will develop and maintain relationships with key service providers and community organisations, allocate and account for effective use of resources and ensure all programs meet reporting requirements. The role will contribute to broader Health Promotion and service planning in collaboration with a broad range of health services and the Aboriginal Health Unit.
What You'll be Doing
The Senior Aboriginal Health Promotion Officer will manage the Aboriginal Programs stream in the Health Promotion Service and ensure delivery of culturally responsive programs to improve health outcomes and address health inequities for Aboriginal communities in south western Sydney.
The position will oversee development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion programs with the Aboriginal community to support improved population health outcomes and community well-being. Key focus areas will be:

Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD operates its services on the lands of the Dharawal, Darug and Gundungurra peoples and has a rich history of working alongside local Aboriginal organisations and programs. SWSLHD holds formal partnerships with local Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations include Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation, Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council and KARI. As the Senior Aboriginal Health Promotion Officer you will work closely with the districts Aboriginal Health Unit and have access to a wide range cultural supports including professional development, cultural supervision, and a large network of Aboriginal Health Managers and colleagues.
