Employment Type: Ongoing Classification: Parliamentary Service Level 5 Closing Date: 11:30pm AEDT, Wednesday 9 October 2024 Contact: Rasel Khan, 02 6277 5636, The Opportunity The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 5 Security Governance Officer within Security Enabling Services Branch.
The Security Division is responsible for broader security functions that support the business of DPS protective security including security planning, capability, risk, policy and reporting.
Security Enabling Services Branch works with many different Australian Parliament house (APH) security stakeholders, including the Australian Federal Police (AFP), the Department of the House of Representatives, the Department of the Senate, the Ministerial Wing Support, and other entities within the Parliamentary precincts.
As the Security Governance Officer, you play a pivotal role in fostering positive security culture at Australian Parliament House.
You will provide administrative and secretariat support to various governance forums, manage information requests, and prepare internal reports and briefing papers.
Your role will involve collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to foster effective working relationships and representing our branch and DPS at relevant meetings and forums.
In addition to shaping a positive security culture and contributing to security maturity, you will support the Assistant Director with general administrative support.

The successful applicant will be required to work closely with other sections of the Security Division along with various external stakeholders to manage staff in delivering security services.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to succeed in this role, along with the ability to establish, maintain and enhance stakeholder relationships, and provide administrative support.

Job Specific Requirements The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

Duty Statement Classification: Parliamentary Service Level 5 Branch: Security Enabling Services Branch Section: Security Policy & Governance Immediate supervisor: Assistant Director, Reporting and Compliance Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 5 classification.
The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide administrative and secretariat support including minute taking and recording meeting actions and decisions.
Prepare, review and manage internal reports, briefing papers, and discussion papers for presentation to DPS Governance forums and Senior Executives in a timely manner.
Provide administrative support to the Security Policy and Governance Section.
Build and foster effective professional relationships with teams across DPS, other parliamentary departments, Australian Federal Police and Commonwealth entities in the development of policies and procedures.
Actively contribute to team culture and leadership in promoting a positive security culture at APH.
Perform other duties commensurate with the objectives of the section and classification.

Salary Currently, the salary range for this position is $86,137 - $92,412 per annum.
Conditions of Employment Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include: Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
