Join us and accept the challenge of creating a better tomorrow.Job DescriptionThe Security Engineer - Cyber Security supports the technical implementation of NCS AU's Security strategy and initiatives and has significant technical knowledge and a deep understanding of the wide range of security technologies used to oversee the security posture of NCS AU and our customers. The role is highly operational with daily activities as part of the role in addition to management of the security team on a BAU basis. The role works with the Security team members and corporate IT to ensure that the security controls implemented within the organisation are effective and in place.Change is to be expected within this role as the NCS business integrates and grows within Australia and the security threat landscape shifts around us. This role needs to be hands-on assisting with those changes and the development of solutions, artefacts, and implementations. As change occurs this role will manage the capacity of the team to deal with the new activities and BAU driving efficient working practices and automation of common tasks.Key Responsibilities:General:Participation in all team operational responsibilities, such as rotational on-call incident response, security event triage, and investigations.Consulting:Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of operational security using automation, data analysis, and implementation enhancements.Partner with the business and technology teams to ensure security issue remediation efforts are prioritised correctly and highly effective.Provide security consulting/advice to business projects.Project Management:Technical ownership of security technologies deployed within NCS AU and responsible for the overall health & operational availability.Evaluate emerging security products/technologies for use within NCS AU, running proof-of-concepts for long-term consideration.Use industry best practices and a strong awareness of current and emerging threats to evaluate the NCS AU technical environments for opportunities for improvements and risk mitigation.Demonstrate high levels of integrity and remain calm, focused, methodical, and unflustered even when pressure levels are high.Understand the tactics that cybercriminals use and how best to combat them.Utilise multiple sources of data/information for threat hunting activities and security investigations.Obtain and maintain relevant security certifications.QualificationsDegree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Cyber Security, or a similar field.At least 5 years' experience as a security engineer working with customers or within a mid-large organisation.Strong background working with a wide range of security technologies such as Splunk, WAF, Crowdstrike, TrendMicro, Vulnerability Scanning, etc.Experience across a broad range of technology streams including infrastructure, applications, and private and public clouds.Good communicator, capable of explaining technical concepts to various audiences with differing levels of technical understanding.Strong understanding of public cloud security offerings and capabilities and experienced in securing such environments.Strong SPL skills for performing incident triage and investigation and writing alerts and dashboards to achieve security outcomes.AWS or Azure technical design expertise and hands-on capability to build solutions.Confidence to provide input into discussions and progress solutions, whilst not necessarily being an expert in the subject matter.High-level problem-solving skills to support addressing complex security challenges.Capacity to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.Results-driven and tenacious, with the ability to achieve outcomes even under tough circumstances.Collaborative mindset to facilitate open knowledge sharing between teams.Independent work ethic to identify organisation gaps and opportunities with knowledge systems.Collaborate and contribute to a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organisation achieve its objectives.Certifications such as CISSP, GSEC, CEH, or CISM desired.
