About the Role:
Are you an inspiring Secondary Teacher Librarian with a passion for nurturing a love of literature? Tradewind is excited to collaborate with a small Catholic senior school in Melbourne's West to offer a full-time, ongoing opportunity starting in the new year. Lead and work within a small librarian team in an environment that values literature and fosters a culture of reading and curiosity. This unique role also includes building a strong reading culture within the school, working with students and teachers within the English and EAL areas to further develop reading skills when classes visit the library. Key Duties: Providing instruction to students on information literacy skills, including how to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically.Teach students how to navigate library resources, databases, and online research tools.Work directly with students and teachers within English and EAL classes to develop reading skills when in the library.Collaborating with classroom teachers to integrate information literacy skills into the curriculum across various subject areas.Selecting and managing the library's collection of print and digital resources to meet the diverse needs and interests of students and staff.Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the library, including cataloguing, shelving, and organizing materials, managing circulation services, and maintaining the library's physical space.Staying current with emerging technologies and digital resources relevant to education and librarianship.Promoting a culture of reading and literacy within the school community by organizing book clubs, author visits, reading challenges, and other literacy events.Collaborating with classroom teachers to co-teach lessons, develop learning activities, and plan units of study that integrate library resources and skills.Skills & Experience: Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia.Must have a valid and up-to-date VIT registration.Previous experience in a teacher/librarian role is a must.Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).Offering: Commence in Term 1, 2025 in a full-time position.Work within a small team including a part-time Library technician, within the Library space.In addition to Library responsibilities, work with EAL and English students and teachers to develop reading skills.Receive a salary commensurate with demonstrated expertise and experience - $78k-$116k.The School: Around 900 students spanning year 11 and 12.An approachable management team and smaller team structures facilitating effective planning and support.Modern facilities throughout the school.Walking distance to train station for easy school accessibility.Abundant opportunities for professional development.Why work with Tradewind?
