CAPS COOLGARDIE is a K-12 School situated in Coolgardie in the Goldfields and includes a Boarding Hostel for Yrs 7 – 12 students. CAPS Coolgardie is seeking a Secondary Teacher to commence as soon as possible.VISION and MISSIONVISION: To be a lighthouse in Christian education, growing and adapting to meet the needs of Aboriginal (First Nations) students.MISSION: To provide a Christ-centred education, that nurtures students spiritually, educationally, and socially, in an inclusive learning environment that embraces the richness of the Aboriginal (First Nations) heritage. To discover and develop God-given talents, grounded in biblical truths, equipping students with life skills, preparing them to be leaders in their communities and to make a positive difference in the world.SCOPEThe primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.REPORTING STRUCTUREThis position will report directly to the Principal.QUALIFICATIONSRecognised teaching qualification, approved for teaching secondary school.Registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB) of Western Australia.Eligible to work in Australia.SKILLS – ESSENTIALQualifications and Experience:Bachelor of Education or equivalent.Demonstrated understanding of the WA curriculum.Commitment to Professional Learning.Strong communication and organisational skills with a commitment to teamwork.Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a multi-disciplinary team.Demonstrated computer skills, using a variety of technologies.Experience or willing to learn school data management system.Excellent communication skills, including the ability to display compassion.Demonstrated skills in student wellbeing.Committed to collaborative practice.CHRISTIAN VALUESThe position requires you to be committed to the Christian Vision and Mission of CAPS by:Celebrating and enjoying being a Christian and being part of a Christian community.Modelling Christian behaviour, practices and beliefs.Building cooperative and supportive relationships with staff, students, and parents.Striving for excellence in performance and participation.Acting in the best interests of the School and its ethos.SKILLS – DESIRABLECurrent First Aid training or willingness to obtain.Willingness to obtain National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check as required.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupport and implement the ethos of the School.Provide a duty of care for all students.Create a learning environment that stimulates interest and purposeful learning.Plan a clear and comprehensive programme that aligns with objectives from the WA Curriculum, as well as progressing the learning of all students.Implement best practice teaching and learning strategies to suit programme objectives and student developmental needs.Actively engage students in all aspects of the learning process.Engage students in assessment and evaluation processes and techniques.Actively engage with students and their families in relation to student learnings and performance.Actively engage in Professional Learning, to develop professionally with colleagues, and receive consistent and up-to-date training regarding education.Participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities as required.Be answerable to the principal for the educational achievement of students under your instruction.Supervise students and maintain proper order and discipline on their part through the use of the School's managing student behaviour policy.Carry out administrative duties to meet organisational requirements relevant to the teacher's functions.Abide by the staff Code of Conduct and other School policies.Assist in the supervision of children in the playgrounds before classes commence and during recesses and lunch breaks, including rostered playground duty.Assist other school staff in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for students in all areas of the school.Attendance at ALL Staff Devotions, Staff meetings as directed by the Principal.Adhering to all the organisation's policies and procedures including health and safety requirements.Any other duties as required by the Principal.NOTE: This job description is comprehensive but not exhaustive, and duties may be varied at the discretion of the school in consultation with this role. If relevant, this position will offer subsidised accommodation and a relocation allowance as part of the package at commencement.
